Adding Horsepower

I have a 95 Ram 3500 4x4 auto 12v cummins bone stock. I would like to add a little horse power without spending money or as little money as possible- I'm not needing/wanting HP so bad as to spend $$$. I've heard that all I have to do is "crank it up a little" and that doesn't require a mechanic to do it..... I've actually heard numerous different things like "shifting the plate forward"....

At 160 stock HP, going into inclines pulling a load, with plans to increase my load as soon as business picks up (Lord willing), I'd like to not get passed by 4banger ford rangers...

If there is a simple and inexpensive way to do this I'd like to.

Any ideas?

Just like you said, slide the fuel plate forward, is one of the free mods.
Or adjusting the waste gate on your turbo, to give you more boost.

I would buy and install a EGT pyro and boost gauge BEFORE I started tuning a truck I tow with.

I am half way through installing those two gauges on my '95 I tow with mostly, BEFORE I do any HP adding mods.

I to have a 95 4x4 with 3.54 or what ever they or not 4.10 . First I will tell you what I have done with stock transmission which is still working . I did give me one problem a thousand miles ago but not since. The only thing that I have done to it that gave me more power and better mileage is timing. That's it . The rest gave more power. A number 10 fuel plate all the way forward. 3 k governor kit. 215 injectors . Bigger air cleaner, less restrictive exhaust. Blocked waste gate. Makes 32 or so boost. That was done 150 k miles ago on a stock transmission . Timing is 17 degrees . Yes I can blow throw the stock convertor at ease. I have band aid the transmission but it is still working and all I do is tow. I know what worked for me. My mileage went from 16 to 21 or better . That's at 65 with the ac. I no long worry about the automatic breaking as it will at some point. Good luck Jim

Yea that true , in fluid coupling . But it probably easer on the drive train . Spools the turbo , less torque to the clutches. Or that is what I was told. Even worse in reverse . Reverse is pretty high gearing , I use low , low 4x4 while reverse with a trailer when loaded , to help control heat and torque to clutches . Jim
