Just wondering as with many vehicles there are a few places an owner can look to to enhance horsepower with some invested time as opposed to spending money.

Are there any free Horsepower tricks under the 03 Ram's hood?

 

I have one in the shop and so far have found 47 new and undocumented triggers to &quot;tampering&quot; error codes built in to detect computer control modifications made outside of the OEM specifications.<br><br>I have found nothing free that will bring the power of an 03 up on the dyno and keep the warranty. By changing the fuel curve, shortening the preinjection cycle, and extending the normal charge and timing points I can pick up power, but then I also am generating tamper codes and other regular error codes.<br><br>The power can be brought up quite a bit by forcing more fuel, bumping the duration cycle, changing the absolute manifold pressure sensor values, and cheating the boost controls. But the warranty goes right out the window until I can find a way around that new batch of snoopervision software.<br><br>The usual tailpipe, muffler, and air intake modifications can be performed; but the sensors in the new computer system compensate for any changes and just roll the power back down.<br><br>Cummins and DC may have come up with a pretty foolproof rat trap with this one! But, only if you want a warranty.

 

Well that isn't good news at all...... ???
