Sounds like a good start. Again, the mileage will be most affected by your foot! If I am nice to it I can be in the 19-21 MPG US, even with the mods.

I had to go back in and adjust mine after the install because it idled too high. I'm not sure which way to adjust the two screws change the idle, but I'm sure someone will chime in

GSK is a very satisfying change for the truck.

A GSK is probably the best initial mod for an auto truck. BEWARE, it may burn out your converter lock-up clutch especially if you change plates or plate setting. The engine will rev a lot higher, but the transmission will still shift per the valve body.

The instructions are OK except for a some fine details.

Start with the plate change instructions for dealing with the break-off screw on the AFC housing.

Cut all the lock wire on the pump screws and discard.

It is much easier to remove the lever (linkage) on the fuel shutdown to access the governor spring plug. Do not loose the small half moon key on the shaft.

The stock spring seat is 2 pieces. Remove 2 pieces with your magnet.

You remove 3 springs and only install 2 springs for a 3k GSK.

Not all stock pumps have shims on the springs.

If the large outer spring (idle spring that is re-used) has a shim install it again. Any shims with the 3 inner springs are discarded

If the idle goes up (signifcantly) you need to loosen one or both spring set tension a click. Small change idle change (100 rpm or so) are done with the idle screw.

because with 4k you have to put different exhaust valve springs in which some times cost extra, and have enough fuel to get there

Anything over 2900 and the 12v head is all but finished breathing, an unported head over 3k is just building EGTs.
IMO 3K is plenty for the street, keep the little spring for the track where you may need the extra rpm to make it to the end.
