RJ, I just read that thread. I have been fortunate and not experienced any DW so far. But I just have an annoying POPPING sound from my front end when turning, particularly in slow moving situations. It was getting pretty bad last year but when Mike and I installed the track bar bushings and steering brace it seemed to go away or be so diminished that I didn't notice it for a while. But it is back now, even worse than before.

I just wonder if I need ball joints or something else now. Very concerning! Truck has 92,000+ miles on it. I need some assistance with diagnosis so I can get this corrected.

I had some popping in my front end and I ended up replacing upper and lower ball joints, axle Ujoints, and one hub bearing assembly. it is as tight as can be now, no popping. I had to do this right after 100k so you may be in the same boat. fyi the ball joints are a PITA to replace because they press in and if you don't have a ball joint press you might as well forget it. Not trying to scare you, just a fair warning. if you have any questions let me know.

That's a pretty cool chart! May have to compare with my readings...

Truck was working hard this weekend... Pulled my JD 4240 now w/ Koyker 585 loader out to the house to put it through its paces. Truck made it about 5 miles on the FM road running 55MPH in 5th before the fan started pulling! was about 95* outside, truck ran about 210* all the way out to the lake! EGTs were well within check so I let her run! Was fun to work the crud out of the ol girl for a change! Heck pulled the boat to and from Lewisville, pulled the big tractor back and forth to the house as well as my small tractor and spray rig... every mile of that tank was towing hard! Pulled a whopping 12.2 MPGs.... $165 to fill up!

[QUOTE=RowJ;anyone have a Torx Head Set. I need a T-25 to replace the Governor Soleniod in my trannys valve body.
It is occasionally sticking in 2nd gear, under heavy throttle, and not shifting! Dropping pan to change filter/ATF fluid so good time to change parts.
ROB? just remembered....used your set on tailgate, I think. Got a #25?

RJ[/QUOTE]

RJ I have what you need. I'll bring all my sets and that tool tray for the back seat. See you guys Sat night at the Ranch. Bring a friend from Florida up.

PS Are you going to bring that rear bumper???

Daniel,
I just noticed today that the drag races are Saturday night, not afternoon. Denton is not much difference mileage wise as The Ranch is, so why don't you just come up there. You and RJ could make your exchanges there.

Don't have any horses there to show your friend.

Thanks, I need to do something. I thought this issue was put to rest but it reared it's ugly head again.

My truck is running awesome.....like a scalded ape. But this front end popping is aggravating to say the least! And I DO NOT have a ball joint press.

We've got a 4240 at home, never even considered putting it on the trailer behind the truck. Back tires full of water with a full weight rack up front, not sure how much it would weigh in at. Used to run duals and had all the weight up front to hold the front end down when pulling a v-ripper.

Basic 4240 is 10,000 lbs... w/o extras. That's the 2x4 model!
Can't remember what I had for breakfast, but I remember hearing that from a customer that had just bgt one (This was 1991).

Ive done everything from brakes, to diff’s and axle bearings to rebuild a gear box to fnt axle bushings........every time i needed some serious lifting equipment to finish the job.......don’t think you would find on behind my truck! haha....im sure it would pull it just fine......its the stopping i would be worried about!

Ya mine is the FWA model so bigger pump and more weight up front, the front rack of weights are now on a rack out back to keep the butt on the ground with a heavy load up front..... Truck pulls and STOPS it fine... I keep an eye on those brakes and keep the gain nice and high...

Pulled her home from her grave all the way up on a grass farm just south of OK...
