I'm thinking that my blend door isn't aligned properly and even on full cold, I'm still getting some air passed over the heater coil.

I've considered shutting off the flow of coolant through the heater coil to see if it helps matters any, but I've heard conflicting reports on whether this is doable/advisable or not.
One suggestion for a quick test on this is to temp bypass your heater core with a line splice. Should be pretty easy and quick other than loosing a bit of coolant. This would allow your heater core to be cool and your evap. core can do its thing with out the bias air from the heater core.

Sorry guys...i troubleshoot all day....so....bleeds over......

Do I just need to block the inlet to the heater core, or connect the inlet to the outlet and bypass the core to maintain flow?

I had considering putting a valve in line and basically turning off flow to the core during the summer. When the valve was closed, the coolant would flow from inlet hose to outlet and bypass the core. We had a similar system on the buses at A&M that kept the cores cool during the summer. But I wasn't sure how it would affect the core here.

Yeah...if you were going to do that....that would work fine.

Never had liked the AC in my truck... Rear seal blew out of the compressor a few months back, jsut couldn't spend the $$ when it was nice outside...

One of those deals where I could ahve installed the new compressor piece of cake. But I dont have the tools to split AC lines for the orfice (stupid dodge strikes again with a no replaceable orfice, have to replace teh whole dang line! ) no tools for pulling a vac and refill correctly... That and the dryers are a touchy thing... Once they get saturated they are done for... Easy to do with the humidity today!

Truck still only has mediocre AC... so back to normal I guess...

I know I will catch grief for this statement, but I can hardly leave the Jetta's AC on low for an extended period of time, I just get too dang cold! Constantly turning the AC completey off and then on level 1 off again etc... On high the entire car is cold in 5 min... This is after sitting directly in the sun all dang day... What do they do with these cars and how do I do it to the truck! the cab isn't that big, there should be no problem cooling that thing down...

Grief coming up: Brian, Macy's women's department just called and the purse you ordered came in.

I should be there on Saturday I hope to finally finish my airbag install.

My sentiments exactly. The g/f's VW gets icy inside with the A/C turned down (even with a black interior). The truck is lucky to keep semi-cool when the sun is blazing outside. I need some good UV blocking tint on all windows to reflect some rays to help this thing out.

First thing I added to my truck on Day #2 of buying it (June, 2003) ......well 2nd, after synthetic oil on Day #1.
Tint makes a BIG difference. % of cab that is glass on a CTD compared to Jetta has to be much higher, IMO. Also big difference.

Well, all windows are tinted. Back and side back windows are factory tint. Front two are as dark as the tint shop would go.

I think the biggest problem is the windshield. That's a huge surface area just soaking up the heat. I think a mirrored windshield might be in order. That should make other drivers and the cops happy.
