DTR #8 September/October 2010 Thread
Well guys, I've had her for a few weeks but I'm just now revealing my new daily driver to complement my 04. I found myself a 98 12V Quadcab Shortbed Auto, the last 2 owners had kept it in good shape and a few tweaks but nothing major. The truck comes with gauges (but only the boost is hooked up right now), remote start, 4" exhaust, completely new ball joints, a shift kit, and supposedly a 0 plate. I do doubt the plate or their installation however, there is very little smoke and I think the shift kit still needs some tuning.
Also the last owner kept the radio and amp so I'm in the process of installing a Pioneer 4200 and still deciding on whether to utilize an amp or not.

I'm happy for both you....and Charlie!
Finally got a remote start in your truck, huh?
"Old 12 valves never die.... they just acquire younger and younger owners!"

GRRRRRR
some Jack A keeps unplugging my truck!! it is 20 something degrees and I was about to start the truck and I noticed the grid heaters had to cycle longer than normal, started it and that is when I noticed the plug....
they are getting sneaky about it, making it looked plugged in but the plug will not be inserted all the way into the extension cord.
I do not understand this :/
I am now leaning toward the landlord doing this. They were complaining about a $1700 gas bill.

So the landlord thinks he can offset a $1700 gas bill by unplugging a 700w heating element?
Worst part about no block heater is the extra time it takes before cab heat!
Got your package a while back Max - thanks.
Stay warm!

Reposting from the other thread in case anyone missed it:
Does anyone have a camper/trailer/RV I could park at the shop for the month of Feb?
We have out-of-town pit crew coming to help us prepare for the Super Stock race, (plenty of late-night wrenching planned), and we're short on beds since the house is still filled up with our boys.
Thanks for any help!

I will email the slum lords tomo, I have no problem giving them an extra $20 a month, heat sooner than later is well worth $20!!!
I am also going to bring my multimeter home tomorrow and boobi trap the plug....

So is everyone surviving Snowpocalyspe/Icemageddon 2011??
I'm not sure I've ever seen ice on the road like this. Usually it's always the slushy stuff that's just a little slick. My driveway and all of the streets here are solid and the truck doesn't even leave tracks. Glad I've got 4x4 so that heavy front end can pull the truck around. We headed to the store yesterday just to get out of the house for a while, it looked like everyone was driving pretty responsibly for the most part. But we did see our share of vehicle "trying" to enter parking lot through uphill ramps...wasn't working so well for most of them.

Same up here!
Going to work Tuesday was not bad. Everyone stayed home and we had crusty snow on top. 20 min for a normally 10 min trip.
Coming home.... it had all turned to ice anywhere someone had driven over the snow. Took 35 min to get home.
Yesterday, still most people staying off the roads but the younger guys w/ 4x4's were filling up the ditches pretty quickly.
They seem to forget that 4x4 does not help with stopping.
Today is first time I've been over 10 MPH due to some bare spots.
Had to go to Walmart at 06:00 for an electric heater to try and defrost frozen pipes in a bathroom on north side of house!
It's so cold I wonder if Charlie has commitied suicide!
Bet it's even cold enough for Justin to throw on a jacket!

Yeah, I tossed on a Carhartt to head outside yesterday.
When this hit on Tuesday, I was going to go out and clear the driveway and sidewalk before it froze, but it was too late. When the snow stopped, it was already a solid block of ice.

Have not been out of the house except to carry out the trash in four days. The wife has made to work every day. Her company moved to the Lewisville/Colony area, which is now a 45 min drive instead of 20 min.
I sure hope the power has not gone out at the barn. If my heater tapes on the water lines quite, I'll have a hell of mess up there. Also, the people that took Dynomite could not get him to load and could not get him to the barn, so he has been out in all of this. Sure wish they would have called me before it got so bad.
