tailgate light
As we know DOT requires a 3 light clearence light that is placed on our tailgates. How do we put v-tailgates or the v- tool boxes on our trucks? Do we just make the change and hope we don't get a ticket?

Re:tailgate light
I didn't know DOT required the tailgate lights... just the roof lights and rear fender lights. Maybe it varies from state to state? Don;t really know. I don't have training wheels

Re:tailgate light
I remember seeing some trucks (don't remember the brand) that has the three clearance lights mounted between the tailgate and the bumper. But I think most of the time people don't even worry about it.
I don't think you will get a ticket. Tractors (OTR) don't have rear clearance lamps either.

Re:tailgate light
Requirments are here http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/reg/108/en/menu.htm They are refered to as Rear Identification Lamps. I think we can remove the lights installed in the tailgate and move them to the top of the bumper then install the v-tailgate etc. They are required on our DRW trucks.

Re:tailgate light
I just got off the phone with the Virginia State Police and they said if I am not wider then 7 feet I don't have anything to worry about. There was a weight restriction but he said I couldn't hit that with my truck (2000 3500).
Hope this helps.
