If I put 80 PSI in them I might as well fill them with concrete and have a ride like the Flinstones mobile. (Wait, it's like that already! )

Too low. It's 55 on my door jamb, but I run 65 all the way around.

I'm running 68 right now.
When I tow again I'll air up to 75 front/rear.

With 1500# on my FW pin I have front and rear axles loaded at 4500# each, 2250# per tire on my SRW truck.

Re: airing down and "watching for heat build up while towing".... I think the likely first sign of this would be a blow-out? unless you're shooting the tires with an IR thermometer every 20 minutes?

Maybe I'm just used to it, but I don't think the ride is bad at all.

Running that weight you need to run the max 80 pressure, cold, for safety. Bet if you check you are lowering the capacity so that the tires are overloaded.

Edwin, your truck probably came with 215's. Seems mine were rated for 60. Your 235's should be up to 80 PSI as stated. I have my Coopers at 70. Don't pull anything. Most loads are local.
