Are we all on the same page that we are all talking about a diesel motor where, richer equals hotter, and leaner equals cooler?

Or did I miss a memo?

A lean gas engine will run hotter than normal if you lean a diesel out you will have a cooler running engine . More diesel more heat more gasoline more cooling so if a diesel is running hot you let off the go pedal our down shift to increase cooling . If a diesel is over heating it is either the cooling system is inadequate or malfunctioning or a mechanical problem with the engine .

Well that was my point if it is underpowered and being worked up the hill it could get warmer. I have climed a few hills with an underpowered truck and it would run warm. 35 years of driving tractor trailors . But you are also right MCummings the more fuel the hotter the exhaust not the engine or coolant. If I remember right cummins has no G. Now my memory is good about the lovley young girls at the beach that have a G string

Thanks.

I actually have considered legally changing it so I drop the "G". It's a diesel thing, I don't think the family would understand, LOL.
