Gooseneck hitch on a flatbed dump?

Gooseneck hitch on a flatbed dump?

Can it be done? There's a new 3500 with a 12' flatbed dump on it that is tempting me, I gotta have a gooseneck hitch though. Wondering if you can have the ball come through the bed and still dump, looks like there's room to install a hitch frame above the rear axle without interfering with the scissor lift. Anyone done that?

i would think their would be a way to mount a hide a ball on the bed and put it in when you need it kinda like a receiver hitch

Without seeing pictures of the dumps undercarriage it is hard to say, My concern would be the strength of the hinge pins on the dump bed if it were attached to that.. I think you would be better off to mount the goose setup to the truck frame and have a trap door on the bed to gain access to the GN pin or pocket for the same..

That's kind of what I'm thinking, weld a cross brace across the frame rails above the axle and attach the ball to that, and just unscrew the ball when I'm gonna use the dump. No one else has done that?

if its like my dump trailer the cylinder sit in between the frame in that area doesnt it

Look into the B&W 1500 system.. here is what my "Modified 1500" looks like. They are designed to flush mount with a 1/8 tread plate deck, I boxed mine in with 1/2 plate to elevate it 1 1/2" for the rumber deck I have on the flat bed.. The B&W system will give you many options for hookup..

Thanks for the links, I think the 1500 model might work. I'll ask if I can measure the frame. That would make it a pretty versatile truck.
