When I bought my MegaCab, it was about 3-4ins taller at the bed rail than my old Ford. Then I added 35" tires. I needed an additional 6"s of rail clearance to be able to pull my 5th wheel.

I went to the local metals place and bought 8"x3" box tube. I ran it from 3' to the front of the existing front shackle and then all the way back to 3' behind the rear shackle.

I attached it with a combination of welded plates on the inside and outside of the frame, and also used grade 8 bolts thru the plates. I used new shackle parts, welded them to the new frame rail. I had to change my fold down entrance step, added a step.

If I had needed more height, then I would have flipped the axle.

It cost me about $300 to do it all including the new step. Took me a couple days, working a little here and there on it, but the end result turned out good, very strong with the frame addition. I had enough new clearance that I could have used underside tool boxes for more storage capabilities.

I kind of thought about doing something like that, but I didn't know about how to keep the axles/wheels in alignment.

How did you deal with getting the alignment right?
