7 pin connector for truck that does not have one...

I think it's the 7 pin... maybe a 6 pin. Whatever the heavy duties have...

My wife has a 08 mega, but it only has the 4 pin connector for trailer lights and brakes. I need to wire one in so she can use my trailer with brakes later next month. How hard is it to do? I want to get an OEM Dodge one and mount it in the stock location.

I know that there are adapters, but I don't think that they will let you use the break controller.

Any help would be great. I'm not there to look at it, so I'm going to have someone else do it, and want to make sure that they don't bugger it.

TIA!

Thanks, John. Luckily, as an admin, I can change that title a little

What's the pain on wiring it?

Mad,

You can buy a factory upgrade from Dodge that will upgrade your (no tow package) flat four to a 7 pin round, it gives you the factory plug at the back to which you can add an in bed harness if you wish too.. see my sig line

Part of the harness plugs into the flat four (L&R turn), part you tie into the DS rear back up light(reverse lamps) and the brake and power will run up to the cab/battery.. The brake controller will have to be tapped into the brake light switch and your controller will require hard wiring as well..

I think the kit goes for about $120 I installed one a year or so ago.. I did a post on here about it I will see if I can find it for you..

Here's the link my comments start at post 25:
