5th wheel harness

I just thought I would post this info. I put one of these in dad's truck (2006 Laramie CTD) the other evening. What a cinch. It took about 1/2 hour and that included drilling the 2" hole in the bed for the plug. Sweet unit. It's from Reese but I found it at this place http://www.hitchcorner.com/5th_wheel_wiring.htm He pulled with it the other day and it was flawless. No splicing, etc. it's just plug and play.

It is about time. I begged them to make one about 3 years ago when I cut and spliced my truck for my in-bed connector. Finally, someone listened!

With the plug being up next to the tag on the 3rd gens, I've just draped the cord over the tailgate on my last two trucks. But with my first three Cummins Rams, I drilled into the bed and tapped into the wires while wishing for a kit to plug into the existing harness.

Very Good information. Someone was asking about that over on rv.net

I had a Reese p/n that had every single truck EXCEPT the 06 Dodge.

$80.00 is a little rich, but compared to hacking in behind the harness..........

I have mine strung over the tailgate with a T-Shirt zip tied around it so as not to rub me wrong. Yes, it's rigged.

Thumbs up

P.J., that's much better, and allot of questions answered too. It keeps the factory plug at the bumper, it works WITH the factory installed tow package and it's a no splice installation. Just what I've been looking for. Way cool!!!

I'll keep that lower price to myself. No need in letting dad know we could have saved a couple bucks.

Oh, it happens, only reason I have that link is from another forum. We were talking about splicing into the facroty wires about a month ago, when I saw this post, I psoted it over there. About 10 minutes later someone replied with the cheaper link.

Happens to everyone of us at one point of another.

You know, I may try some reverse psychology along those lines. Before I buy my turbo and intake and exhaust manifolds I'm going to post that I did buy them and at what price. Then I'll watch the low ball posts roll in and select the cheapest and be on my merry way. Because you're right PJ it happens to me all of the time. This time I will use it to my advantage though.
