5th wheel and 35's

I'm in the process of buying a Fifth wheel r.v.My concern is on my 09 2500 4x4 I have 35 (34.1) inch tires and a front leveling kit.when i air down the bag's,I'm at 58 1/2 inches at the top of bed rail.I'm told you need 6 inches of clearance.I haven't picked it up yet. But,I'm hoping i won't have to go to stock height tires or flip the trailer axle. Anybody tow with a similar setup?

I have a toy hauler and 285's. Mine sits a little nose high. I would also like a tad bit more bed rail clearance but haven't done anything in fear of making it worse. I have adjustable shackles on the coach, but I'll need to raise them all the way and see where it lands before adjusting the pin. Short of that, it'll need a block lift or something on the coach. Be aware that can void the warranty on some coaches. It adds alot of stress while turning. Especially on triple axles like mine. Good luck.

im towing with a 2000 on 35's. idk what my measurement is from ground to bed rail but i do know that my camper used to sit quite high in the nose when hooked up. i had 6.25 inches of clearance over the bed and actually bumped it once on the 2nd tow. no damage just touched the light cord, but to close for comfort in my eyes. i flipped the axles and got new bold on perches from a local trailer shop. a buddy and i had it done in just shy of 5 hours. the only other thing that bothers me with towing the 5er with 35s is there's too much sidewall movement when taking turns and such. my GN doesnt bother it a bit but because the 5er is hooked so much higher it likes to push my rear end around. my .02 would be if you dont want to lose your big tires, just flip the axles and go with it, just remember that it will raise your overall height, raise your steps, and be just a touch bit more top heavy, i didnt notice a difference in the handling of the trailer when i flipped mine, but it still pushed me around a little in the corners. hope this helps

I have 35's on my rig and when I flipped my axles, welded on new perches on the top of the axle left the stock ones alone. rig sits alot more level, lifted it a solid 5.5"

That only works if you're spring under already. If you're rig is spring over, then that's not a solution. You'll need to add blocks to raise it...or longer hangers. Can't get silly with longer hangers though either.

With mine flopped I dont think id really want to lift it to much more with blocks or shackles, the further away from the spring mounts you are the greater the leverage force that occur especially during tight turn manuevers

i did hook up to the other day at the dealer and it looks like i'll be fine.i only had about 30 lbs in my bags .there is another hole available on the pin box but it would just raise the nose..and really didn't know how level i was.but,it had to be close.my concern with clearance is when you back into my driveway off the road there's a pretty good dip there.so,looks like i'll be able to keep my tires..so,i guess were buying an 09 bighorn 3055 fifth wheel.now,i wanna get rid of the chinese trailer tires.

I have 315 tires on my truck and all I did was to relocate the RV hitch and the truck hitch. Moved the RV pin up to max and truck down to max. The truck and RV with the airbags at almost 50 psi sit perfectly level. Zero problems with towing, even from sea level to 7,000 feet, but had to drop down to 4th gear on the steepest hills.

i brought it home today.and,it did rub the rails just barely when lowering it down the dip off the road down in the driveway.luckily the bighorn underside has some flex in that area.i think what would help most is a few loads of rock to eliminate the dip.i'll go back to stock size tires when i wear these out.i also have one more hole of adjustment on the pin box.i don't know what that hole adjust would do to my level though.
