Is there an Index button

On most forums there is an index or similar button that will take you back to the page listing the threads. Such as after replying to a thread. What am I missing?

Thanks in advance!

Waaaaaay at the bottom right side of the page after you make your reply is the 'Forum Jump' button. You'll probably have to scroll down to see it. I believe this will accomplish what you're looking for.

You can also click on the word "Forums" at the top of the page

Hello,

Thanks.

What about when you are pages into a thread and post or worse pages into a forum and then pages into a particular thread. Using either of these buttons puts you back to the start of the forum. Is it norma then for this site to re-navigate to where you where in these cases? Using the back button on a browser does not work either in these cases.

Thanks again

I think I understand what you're asking... maybe.

That 'Forum Jump' button I spoke of is 'selectable', meaning you can hit the little upside-down triangle next to the 'Go' button and choose where you go to.

Does this answer your question?

If you are in the middle of a thread when you post I think you're out of luck, same when browsing the threads. The only way I've found is to start hitting the back button on your browser after you post.

Guys, the index is right in front of you and always has been. See below:

Just click it and it will take you back to the forum index page. As a matter of fact, you can get back to induvidual forums from threads as well. It's a whole tree of links that will take you where you need to go. It's on every single page.

Hello,

I know about the link at the top of each page and the button at the bottom right with the arrows to take you to the the beginning of forums. What I was wondering when you're buried deep in a forum(ie pages of threads away from the most recent) and post seems like the only option by these buttons is to take you back to the beginning of the forum. I do not see a button that will take you back to the list of threads, where you were before you posted to a specific thread.

Does this make more sense? My typical forum is Moparts. The Index button is great after posting. Keeps me on the same page listing the threads after a post.

After a post like that, I usually hit the back button a couple times together so it will jump back past the post. I usually do all my navigating here using the back button, as I usually browse through the posts using the "New Posts" feature and it covers all the different forums.

Yes, it makes sense. What you're not understanding is not only will the tree that I showed you take you back to the forum index, but it will also take you back to the list of threads you were at before. You just click on the link one over to the right. The link you speak of is staring you in the face. Look closely at the graphic I posted, and also look closely in your browser while reading this post. You'll notice there are links to the right of the main forum page index link. Click them. Discover. Be amazed.

As for the other two things you mentioned, I'm not going to put any more counters on anything. All they do is create more queries and create a large increase in DB load without providing a huge gain in usability.

I might consider the third. For now if you want to look at your own posts, go to your profile page and click view posts by (your username). Is the same thing, just not where you might want it.

What I do is go under search and I type in my user name. I thought it was pretty handy on another site I'm on with a link that says "Your Threads". Just an idea.

Not on my browser! It will not take me "back to the list of threads you were at before." It will take me to the 1st page of the forum but not back to the same list. "Discover. Be amazed."

Then you have a browser issue I can't help you with. That's something you'll need to take care of on your own as it works great for me. Don't know what else to tell you.

Just open threads up in a new tab. Then if you want you can go back in the previous tab.
