Where are you guys getting solenoid valves for Hobbs Wastegate conversions?
Just curious.
I'm trying to find a 12VDC solenoid valve with 1/8" NPT female ports.
I've found some online, but they want $10 shipping for a $29 valve!!
Any ideas?
The local industrial supply places can get them, but I'd have to order it.
BTW-- how can I buy things from Grainger without being a business??
Thanks.

Cant help on the valves but Grainger I have bought things from them in the past. As far as business they have never required any doco from me regarding a real business. Just tell them you are Hohns Auto Repair. Or just tell them you work for the USAF and you need some parts for a project. If you are buying online I cant remember what they needed as far as info but I dont think it was much. Just the normal name, addess, contact person etc. They might want to know your fein # but your ssn number should work fine for that since you are a sole proprietor, right.

You could try some one who sells gravel boxes-trailers for a valve I used one for my air horn.It is used to unlach the tail gate. We have a store up here called princess auto that was air valves but that does you no good. Best of luck in finding what you need.

$39 ($29 + $10) isn't a bad price for a 12 volt solenoid valve. I've nerver found a real good price on them when I've looked. You might try a propane supply house as they usually stock valves with 1/8th pipe threads.

I already have the Hobbs switch-- I need a solenoid valve.
I could always use a Nitrous solenoid, but that's a waste of money and way overkill.

I dunno about the same, but it should work... I don't need something that flows that much though, since the valve would be deadheaded against the WG diaphragm.
