What kind of fluid for NV4500?

I bought some Castrol Full Synthetic 75-90 GL5. Do yall think that would be alright to put in? The guy at Oreilles wasn't too knowlageable about anything. Also, how much fluid does it hold? I thought it was 3 or 4 quarts but I don't remember. Thanks a lot.

It's gotta be rated GL4 not 5 for the syncro's. Only three choices I found are Castrol Syntorq, Amsoil has one similar, or Mopar nv4500 oil from the dealer. It's expensive stuff, $82 for 4 quarts of the mopar stuff. Mine took all 4 quarts and could probably use another 1/2 quart.

If you can find Castrol syntorq get that because it's cheaper than the mopar, and the owners manual said to use it or use the mopar stuff.

The syncros are sensitive in our trannys. If you use the wrong stuff it can destroy them. I stick to the stuff from the dealer because it is not worth the risk to me.

Get the right stuff eric. Your synchros aren't in good shape as it is. Remember the color of the fluid we pulled outta there? You get the shaft in yet?

The shaft came, but for some odd reason it got shipped to Elgin. Sowe had to meet my mom half way to pick it up. We just got back and we're fixin to start putting it back together.

Good deal. I might skip out of CAD again but I doubt it.

I have run the Castrol Syntorq in my NV4500 for years of hard use without a single issue.
