How much Tranny Fluid and what kind?

I've got a suncoast tranny and convertor on the way. How much fluid will I need? I thought about using Valvoline ATF+4, but the Mopar fluid is slightly cheaper. Is the Mopar brand any good. Anyone recomend a fluid brand.

What does Joe say to run? I run Mercon/Dex in my tranny. You'll need at least 15 quarts if it's bone dry.

Make sure you put some fluid in the converter prior to install.

Definitely put some fluid in that converter. It'll go on a lot easier. I use regular Dexcron from Advance Auto - in the blue containers. Works like a charm for me and I put my tranny through hell.

When i did my TC & VB install i used 17 quarts of Castrol ATF+4, put 1 in the TC before puttin it in. The new parts should come with their instructions, so i would follow those.

How can I say this, don’t believe a word I am saying and do your homework and prove it to your self as I have!

I drive 114 miles back and forth to work and on have over 410,000 miles on my Toyota Camery.

Fourteen years ago I did some in-depth study of Synthetic oil before putting it in my new 99 Dodge 250 Cummins. I proven to myself through oil analysis every 15,000 miles that I can and do go 45,000 miles between oil changes and I get better mileage and the truck runs cooler. I use Amsoil 100% Synthetic oil through out my truck. No I am not a dealer! Yes I have a Amsoil bypass filtration oil system on my truck.

Your find that most standard transmission oil temperature range go up to approximately 220 degrees before is starts to get damaged. Amsoil transmission oil has a range of -61 degrees to 435 degrees. https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/atf.aspx I noticed that my truck use to run about 190 range with standard oil. Now with Amsoil it runs 175 degrees.

Also normally you should change your transmission oil about every 35,000 miles.

SERVICE LIFE
AMSOIL Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid is recommended for use up to 60,000 miles under severe service* and up to 100,000 miles under normal service* or according to the vehicle manufacturer recommended intervals, whichever is longer. AMSOIL recommends thoroughly draining the transmission and flushing with new AMSOIL ATF to achieve a minimum 90% purity of new transmission fluid. Drain intervals may be extended further with oil analysis.

Atf+4

Hi Bill: How was the trip????
When it comes to ATF+4, because of specs, they should all be the same.( the spec's for atf+4 are set by Diamler Chrysler, and therfore any manufacturers atf+4 must meet or exceed the spec's)
As for filters, The stock filter is OK, but I've been told by a tranny tech that the old style filter for the "tourqflight 727 tranny that Crysler has used since 1965 " is a better filter to use. by design it has twice the surface area to filter the fluid with. I have been using Purilator ,P233, (new #, it superceeds P1175. price for it is about $9.
If you look at the 2 style filters side by side you will see what I mean.
