Could i just take my stock air filter hose and put a cold air filter on that or do you think i need to buy the whole system.

I believe the "theory" is that by attaching a filter directly to the turbo your just allowing the hot air surrounding the turbo and motor to re-enter the turbo. By having the intake hose hooked up and moving the air intake filter away from the turbo your intake should draw in cooler air. The cooler the air the more hp you'll make.

I guess in a perfect situation you could have your intake hooked up to your a/c....but then you probably won't get the volume of air needed.

Yeah i was thinking about that. I was just going to put the cold air intake filter right on my existing hose and build a braket to hold it in the old filter box place.

My friend made a homemade airbox out of aluminum & used a AFE filter with his stock hose. His turbo sounds cool as the aluminum seems to enhance the sound.

Pretty much the morale of the story is yes you can put an aftermarket air filter on your stock intake tube... a heat shield is recommended tho
