Thumbs up Twins 4 a 24valve ??? good idea??

I Am a Nothern ILL farm boy in search of information on a twin turbo set up for a 2001 dodge ram 24v . I have heard there is a special tool to cut the o rings in the block in the truck ? Are the twins worth it , or should i just run a monster single / with a o ringed block ? Looking for pro's and cons . Would also like to street race as well as truck pull . Any help would be Great

Some big power can be made from a single but EGTs and spool up are some of the down falls. And most of the big dogs power and E.T. wise are twin turbo trucks.

Im sure you will have to take you head off and bring it to a machine shop to have your head o-ringed.

What color is your truck? Im from wauconda IL. about 20min from you. Been to gurnee a few times street racing with friends.

There are plenty of people on this site that can justify puttin twins on a 24v. Timinva and Stamey are just two of them that are in the 550-600 HP range!!

Twins are absolutely the way to go for power and fun. One note of caution, When you make big power, big things break! Once you resolve yourself to that fact, TWIN that sucker and have a ball!

I got turned away from another pull tonight because of twins. "Twins aren't allowed in the run-what-you-brung class." However, sometimes you can convince the people in charge to let you pull an exhitbition pull for a small amount of cash. Twins are a blast! Also, from what I can tell (unless you want to beef up the bottom end for 5000+ rpm) single chargers are limited to 500-550HP when bolting directly to the stock manifold as required in most street pulling classes.

What all do you have to do to the motor to run twins? Like Heads, crank, pistons, HG's etc.

O-rings or Fire rings, Studs, a clutch or tranny that can handle the power, and plenty of fuel. The stock cam, pistons, and head are fine. The amount of fuel will depend on the set of twins you decide to use. Hx-35 - HT3B will need less fuel to spool and will only cool so much. B-1 - Big Brother will handle more than a VP-44 will pump and most all a P-pump will pump.

That makes no since.

As for twins, they can be a great advantage depending on what your looking for. You don't have to have 600+ hp to run twins, you can build a small set for small hp. JR Adkins is somewhat close to your area (Indiana), might want to PM him and ask him as he has done more work with twins then most on this site.

I wish I had gone staight to twins. They are definately more streetable than big singles. The only drawback is that you become limited on where you can pull at, but for me that was not a big issue.
