turbo questions

hey guys i kinda new to the diesel world i got a ? about a compound turbo setup. i was thinking about putting in a holset super 40 and a HT 60 for twins. would that setup work pretty well? i know i will need to put head studs in, is there any other mods that i will need to also. i have a 1999 dodge 2500 with a fass system, 150 sticks, afe air intake and a smarty. thanks for ur help.

If this is for a dedicated puller or racer where spoolup won't matter much, then this is probably good-- though the HT60 is an ooollllddd turbo, and there are a lot more advanced options out there that won't cost a fortune..

For a street twins setup, I'd avoid the Super 40 on top-- or any HX40 for that matter.

Keep in mind that nothing spools the big charger faster than a small one that's already spooled. If you want good response from the "Set" it all starts with the top charger.

BTW-- a good twins setup doesn't "need" ridiculous amounts of fuel. If you have enough fuel to spool a larger single, you have enough to spool streetable twins.

this is my daily driver and i tow a lit but nothing heavy. what two turbos would you recommend. why would you avoid the super 40. what my plans are is to get one turbo and then when i get the money buy the other for the twins. thanks for your input.

Big wheels on small shafts go snap when going from WOT and high boost to no throttle and no boost. They survive better in twin apps, but there are better turbos out there that are much beefier.

ok thanks for your help. the only reason y im askin is i was talking w a diesel shop and thats what he recommended. so i started lookin on this forum and the cummins forum, and couldn't find a whole lot of info. on them. so i figured id ask u all.
