SWAYIN' Cummins

I have an 02 sport and on the highway it sways back and forth, ya have to hold on to the steering wheel and if u let it go, ur in the ditch. LOL .. I got an aliment, new track bar, ball joints, and the wheel braerings are good.....(Now)....
and it still floats..? I noticed the other day that there is a sway bar in the front, the ball joints are gone where it connects to the axle... Just wondering if this could be my problem or is the box just gone..? I drive alot of dirty rough roads... I know that the front ends are not to withstand that but... i don't have a choise thats my job.
Just Looking for some info or simular problems

http://www.solidsteel.ca/DSS.htm

This may be what could help you out. Supports the sector shaft in the steering box, makes everything more rigid. I've heard nothing but good things on these.

One correction, www.solidsteel.biz
Pretty sure solidsteel.ca is out of business.

The DSS helps me stay in the lane I'm shooting for.
Sounds like you have a steering box problem as well.
Might be best to replace it, then install the DSS.

As to the front swaybar joints being bad, I took mine out completely over 2 years ago, don't even miss it or notice that it's gone.

I took my sway bar off at the beginning of the year and I have no clue that it's not ever there.

I had a major tire store align the front end on one of my trucks 4 times, telling them each time that the toe-in should be negative 1/8". After narrowly missing several wrecks I finally adjusted toe-in myself with a tape measure, to 1/8" in, and no more problems. Could be the shop left you with zero toe, or positive toe-out? You want at least 1/16", and I like 1/8" ideally. Measure across the front of tires and then rear of tires, at center point top to bottom. That will tell you where the toe-in is, and then you can have it adjusted if it's wrong.

Here's some links that may be helpful. Firm Feel is currently rebuilding a manual box for my '67 Dodge truck, and I think they can rebuild most anything, power or manual. I got a good price and they have a good reputation, and very friendly and personal on the phone:

I haven't had any dealings with these, but they might be able to help you if Firm Feel can't? I mainly do vintage stuff so not sure what they carry.....
