Sub with stock stereo?

Can I run an amp and a sub off the stock stereo? I know this sounds ghetto, but can it be done? I want to get some new speakers all around, an amp under the back seat, and a sub in the center. I don't need much more, jsut a little. Can I use the stock stereo? Is there plugs in the back for an amp?

Thanks
DIma

You'll need to buy an adapter to convert your stock head unit into one with RCA's but that's about it. If I were you though, I'd save my money and buy an aftermarket head unit. The added sound quality is well worth it.

Do they make a CD/Tape player that fits in there? I like using my Ipod and the CD's.

Thanks

Every aftermarket unit I have looked at was not compatible with my "behind the steering wheel controls"

I have a single 12" MTX 5000 behind the drivers seat running a MTX 450 watt amp off the factory stereo. I had the stereo shop install an inline RCA converter.

Yes, they do make a "Double Din" stereo to fill in the factory stereo hole.

What I like most about the factory stereo is that no one wants to steal it!!!!

I have a amplified bazooka bass tube that works well.I'm not in to the thumpin' stuff so it makes a good foundation for a quality system.I already have a fosgate amp and speakers back there so I didnt have any room for another amp and sub. So,it worked real well. And you can conect them to a factory system.

Justin I agree with the theft thing. I don't want my setup ganked from my house. As for the controls, there is an adapter you have to get that is installed into the stereo that allows you to run the controls. I had to do this for my finacee's BMW.

I have a complete stock infinity and I put an amp under my seat and paralled it to my passenger rear speaker. I have a Bazooka tube and it sounds GREAT!!! Lots of bass, dosen't "boom" but sounds great. A reasonable cost and really easy to install.

That's what I did too. I used speaker level inputs from the amp to the rear speakers. I have a 200w MTX amp and a MTX 10" sub in a Qlogic box. the box is the only one I could find that would fit behind my seat.(standard cab) I know it's not high quality stuff but it sounds good enough for the stock Infinity head unit and speakers.
