Stock Stereo specs
I have had in my head to try and find a stereo from the wreckers to upgrade my old tape deck to something with a CD/Cassette or just CD if I have to.
I was wondering if all of this was worth the effort? Is the stock stereo output higher than 50W/ch? The aftermarket world is flooded with 50W/channell stereos.
I would just like to keep the clock and the factory dimming/looks.
Any suggestions for aftermarket or stock?

Stock is probably more like 3-5 w/ch, maybe a bit more for the Infinity system. A decent aftermarket head unit will retain the dimming, and I don't think I've ever seen one without a clock.

Got my aftermarket Pioneer from Crutchfield right after I bought my truck and have loved it! Costed about $250 and is fitted to replace the stock opening without the extra mounts to size it down...

I tried to get in on Crutchfield.. NO GO in Canada..
The Infinity won't do me much good without the upgraded speakers, and I already put in some 200W Pioneer 2 ways.
Looks like the Aftermarket deck is a better bet..Hmm. So many to choose from.
Thanks..

The stock infinity radios have higher than 5 watts per channel. I will look for the specs, but I believe mine is around 40 watts per channel. ( they have a big heat sink on the drivers side) . I have a tape player infinity one. If I find the specs, and they are different, I will post again.
Some mopars have a different setup in them. My wifes Grand Cherokee came with the same CD/tape player with remotes in the steering wheel as my truck but has a factory amp under the rear seat, and the radio sounds totally different then when I put her radio in my truck (no amp ) even thou it is a infinity.
Question: Did our trucks ever come with an amp from the factory, and where did they put it is so?

I replaced the Infinity w/CD in my truck with an aftermarket deck and front speakers. If you want the cd deck with the front speakers you can have it.

If it has the white 2 conductor plug for the remote controls, I might be interested in it.
I have a pioneer CD/cassette in mine, but I find the beeping everytime a button is pushed to be very annoying.

Oh, and by the way, I have 2 6x9's and 2 4" or 5" or something like that from a minivan that have the "amps" built onto them. How do you hook those up if you don't have infinity from the factory. (mine did, just asking)
