Removing Muffler

Truck in my sig is stock, but I'm wanting to do a few things to it. I went to a local muffler shop and they will remove my muffler and weld in a section of pipe in for $55 to $65. It still has the cat and I also have an exhaust brake. My concern is that this is my daily driver and I use it to pull my 5er. Will it be too loud or will there be a drone that i have read about? I like louder trucks as the gasser I replaced had duals with Flowmasters.

I would just spend the $300 and get a turbo back exhaust. My ebay 5" system is quieter than my old stock exhaust with the muffler removed was. In fact, my 5" is actually quieter than the Summit Racing 4" system it replaced.

You will definately get the "drone" that you hear about. I straight piped my truck completely, no muffler/resonator/cat. It's pretty loud and a little annoying when towing long distances.

I am just a resinator on mine and with the windows up it is ok. I get no drone but the exhaust is kinda loud. I did have a drone on my exhaust without the resinator though. I would love to put on a 5" exhaust with just a resinator and see how it works.

Thanks for the replies. I'm just going to remove the muffler for now since the exhaust brake is located between the resonator and muffler to see how it sounds.

I had the stock exhaust w/no muff now it's........."what's that? sorry, I can't hear you w/my 5" exhaust and muffler."

but I have not installed the tailpipe; I'm praying it will get rid of the drone.
