That's a tricky one. I assume there would be no problem, but I'd call DTT and ask them.

The question will be, is it set up for the 98 correctly. Most of them are calibrated and set up for the application.

My 97 has the 47RE. I'm not positive but I think the 47RE goes back to 1994. The electronics may be different though.

My 1996 V-10 3500 had the 47RE. I think the 47RE was introduced in the 1996 model - 1995 and earlier were the 47RH.

Yep, my 96 has the RE as well.

The RE is not that well suited for the 12v applications, IMHO. They shift very early. This is apparently due to the fact that the computer (controlling the shifts) has very little data from the engine as to what is going on (e.g. MAP etc) on the 12v, therefore is not able to control shift points as accurately as on the 24v engines. I was told this by Dave Goerend when discussing my 96.

You should be able to make it work, but it might require some programming..? I'd call up DTT and ask them.. They'd be the ones to answer your question. Also, if you know who you're getting it from, they might remember the specifics on that particular tranny build and be able to give you some advice. They did just that on a DTT tranny I was considering buying used and I'm glad they did, as I didn't buy the tranny because of what they told me about how it was set up and being used.

The '01 tranny will have a slightly different setup in the valve body for the 24v's higher revving nature.. You might like it though... I think my tranny shifts too early, but it's good for keeping EGT's down.

Worst case, just get a 12v valve body, and you *should* be good, but a call to DTT would be prudent.

Oh, forgot to add... we had this problem on mine... some of the fittings, plugs, etc. on the outside of the trans. may be different, so keep your old tranny handy to swap pieces off of.
