Bigger brake kits

I have a 2001 3500 4x4 CTD auto 3.54 gear I dont like the way the brakes feel while towing my 20ft gooseneck (has brakes on both axles) . Also my front brakes squeeeeeekkkkk all the time Ive tried different pads and put on new rotors . They have never worked as good as the stock set . I"m not getting the cheep pads and I tried the HD pads too . So does anyone else have this problem . Is there a bigger kit out there ? It sounds like my truck is scraping a chalkboard .

Thanks
Mike

I've had no luck with aftermarket pads on 01 trucks. The lighter duty ones don't last, and the heavy duty ones are brutally noisy. I have been installing factory pads.

Mike, Im not exactly sure what you mean....

anyway, another thought......check out Porterfield pads.....havent personally used them, but have heard a LOT of good things.

You could also install the one ton cheby brake cylinders in the rears or convert to rear disks (assuming you have an early 01 with drums). Just do a quick search...

I have had great service out of Bendix Fleet pads and they are guarenteed for life. Free replacement for ever. And they don't undually eat the roters, mine are original.

HID, your rotors are still original?! How many miles do you usually get out of a set of pads?

So does any one know of a aftermarket brake upgrade like bigger rotors ? I like to drive fast, and sometimes I have to stop fast.I plan to scout the salvage yards to find the rear disc setup .

The 2000 and newer trucks had different brakes from the older trucks. They seem to work a lot better, but they are a lot harder on rotors.

I'm running CarQuest Ceramics in the front for about a year now. They seem OK but I probably shouldn't comment till I check them.
