Pyrometer????????
Pyrometer????????
Does anybody know where I can get a Pyrometer for my 5.9 Cummins without having to give a arm & a leg for it? Also what does it take to hook one up? I take it you have to drill and tap a hole into your exhaust. Just wondering if it works well without any problems of leaks or blowing out of the hole? Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks
Re:Pyrometer????????
I got mine from www.wildcatdiesel.com
Good Pyros ain't cheap. The Cummins is a $4000+ option.
They have to be precise to keep you from having to hang a bucket on the end of your tailpipe to catch the melted aluminum from your pistons.
Mine's been in for over a year, pre-turbo, no leaks.
Just take your time and measure twice.......drill once.

Re:Pyrometer????????
Hay I got all my gauges from TST. there prices arn't bad an the service is super. As far as installing the pyro it is a simple operation yes you drill an tap a hole in the manifold (use a lot of grease on the drill an the tap ) it keeps chips from falling down inside, also a little pencil magnet to probe around in there after the hole is drilled.
All in all this is not a bad job.
Bob ;D
