Re:2-1/16" Boost and Pyrometer Gauges..where to mount?

I used the triple a-pillar gauge from Geno's Garage for Autometer Phantom gauges (EGT/boost/tranny temp). Attached is a picture from when I was fitting it. Haven't had time to hook them up yet.

Davec

When installing the pillar mount, did the "Oh s#@$" handle get in the way? I am in the same boat and want to mount gauges but I thought the handle would be in the way. Thanks for any help.

I only mounted the pyro and used a cup. Attached a shot. Out of the way but easy to see. Does not block vision. The pillar mounts really blow that pillar up quite large - - hard to see around them.

Bob

Re:2-1/16" Boost and Pyrometer Gauges..where to mount?

I took the whole a pillar cover off and put that gauge pillar on. It comes with a note that the NHTSA says it's not an approved replacement, yadda, yadda, yadda, and to saw off the handle and use the gauge pod as a cover over the original pillar. I opted to not for the time being...

Re:2-1/16" Boost and Pyrometer Gauges..where to mount?

Was looking for the mounting options...

Has anyone ever seen a two gage pod that is similar to the pod a 94-2003 Mustang's clock is mounted in? I think the supercharged cars have a boost and fuel pressure gauge in this pod in lieu of the clock.

Could be a good idea for the 03 Ram dash. Mount it front in center about 4" from the front of the dash lip.

Now just to find the "correct" color and a "manufacturer".

I too thought the A-pillar location may be a little cumbersome to both look around (given it's current capablility to block sight of small vehicles) and the fact you either need to give up the "oh-crap" handle, or thicken the pillar padding to get the gauges in place left me looking for other solutions. There are not any blind spots in the dash for them either.

I used the steering column mount from Diesel dynamics (autometer makes it) on mine. If you are only going with 2 gauges I thought it came out very clean. It does block most of the view of the numeric displays - but you can still see the warning areas and the gauges fine.

Mathew

Re:2-1/16" Boost and Pyrometer Gauges..where to mount?

I am going to go with the X-Monitor from BD. I like the idea of gauges and think they are easier to glance at, but I am not cutting off my handle. Also I think it will block less view then a triple gauge does. It looks like the read out should closly match the numbers on the radio making it a some what stock looking piece.

I know the price is a little higher, but what are you paying for 3 guages and the pillar? really for the price it is a drop in the bucket compared to the price of the truck, atleast to me any way

Same here on the X-Box just waiting for it to come out for the 03's and to get my new truck. I hate waiting.

The angle of the photo exaggerates the blocked view.

The X-Monitor looks like the way I'll go. If anyone's interested, you can e-mail Dave Dias at Dave Dias dave@bd-power.com and he'll put you on a list of people to notify that the 03 box is ready.
I e-mailed BD and this is the guy I got. He let me know about the list, so now you know

The idea of having 3 digital guages and getting to keep my grab bar is pretty appealing.
