2-1/16" Boost and Pyrometer Gauges..where to mount?
Re:2-1/16" Boost and Pyrometer Gauges..where to mount?
Looked real hard at the X-Monitor. Then got to thinking (a dangerous thing to do) and thought that the digital would mean I would have to look at it and read the numbers. With an analog gauge you can glance at the relative position of the needle to make sure things are up to snuff.

The other thing I didn't like was that the pryo that comes with it was post turbo.

Just my thoughts.
Re:2-1/16" Boost and Pyrometer Gauges..where to mount?
The pyro can be mounted pre turbo, I see that they show it post in the instructions, don't know why.

Also their are alarm settings on it for all 3 functions, doesn't make up for the ease of reading guages but it helps.

Still waiting for my X-monitor. My accessory shop tells me that it should be out in another few weeks -- finally. The first problem was that it had to be redesigned for the '03 -- doesn't everything? That's been taken care of, but now they're having problems getting the plastic case built so that it will look good and will match the interior colors. More later -
Re:2-1/16" Boost and Pyrometer Gauges..where to mount?
Does anyone know if they have a mounting system for the X-Monitor that fits the cubby hole under the heater for the 2WD Laramie with seat heat? It would be the perfect place in mine without hacking up the interior.

Casey

They don't have one, but I bet it wouldn't take much to make up a face plate with the right size hole for the display to go in. You just wouldn't use the pillar mount that comes with it.
Re:2-1/16" Boost and Pyrometer Gauges..where to mount?
The standard 2 1/16 gauges will fit in the SLT cubby but not in the Laramie Cubby. Just a little too small. That is why the X-Monitor looks like the ticket but I heard the pyro cable may be too short. Unless I can find a different way of routing it.

Casey

Pyro cable? all the electronic run to a control unit and their is just a single hook up that runs to the actual display, like a phone chord I believe
Re:2-1/16" Boost and Pyrometer Gauges..where to mount?
I just installed a fuel pressure and pyro/boost combo gauge in one of those cheap under dash 2-gauge steel mounts. I located it directly under the dash below my ashtray. Is it as visible as the pillar mounts? No. But it works for me, was easy and cheap to do. I don't constantly look at the gauges, just glance down at them occasionally and before I shut down to check EGT. If you like to constantly monitor your gauges, then this is not the way to do it, because you do have to momentarily take your eyes off the road.

I've got three digitals on my a-pillar from Dakota Digital. Very nice setup. Cost: $450. You would think that you would have to read the numbers, but a quick glance and you instantly see the numbers. I had trouble reading anything with the needle. A quick sweep and I saw all the numbers on the digitals. Plus they have high and low warning settings.
