Talking Plate reccommendation?

On my 97. I have the 4.10 rear end on my 3500. For the 5 speed. I tow a 5000 lb boat AND a 4700 lb camper. I need to install a different fuel plate. I hate not being able to climb a hill in 4th gear. Sometimes I drop into 3rd. It sucks. I still have a stock tranny though........Any suggestions?

By the way, I KNOW that this is a heavy load--on ANY diesel...

I would go with a #12 or #11. If you rebuild your tranny, put in a #10 or try your 100 plate from your other truck. I know the #10 is rated for 330hp/750tq in a 215hp pump. That should help you out a little bit

Man, I wish I could use a 100 plate!

I am leaning on your suggestions of a 11 or 12. I know heat will be the other factor....

I just want more climbing power...

get the 10, the 100 will be toasty with your 4:10's especially, becuz you are higher in the rpm range on your truck, you're higher up the profile on your plate, thus with the flat cut of the 100 you're gonna be dumping alot more fuel up high than what you will with the 10 & it's defueling on top, the 100 ran pretty hot on my 97', but the 10 worked well (should have never sold it!!) & with the 10 you can slide it back to your needs, & then move it on up l8er on, I wouldn't bother with the 11 or 12, you'll just want the 10 l8er anyway, Dusty

Ignore the charts.
Get the #10 and slide it back from the stock position to save your tranny.
After you upgrade the trans slide it forward.
Plates were designed to be run in the stock position, just sliding them fore or aft will overlap with the performance of the next hotter and colder plates.
Remember to check the governor arm adjustment.
