I thought I saw something like this too, but I can't find it now! Also, I don't think he meant idle...I think it was in neutral "free-revving" the engine!

As far as the gear walk...saw it on tractors, makes a mess. That's why I consider the bolt on gear not only as an Upgrade, but as cheap insurance too! Yes, it could still happen, but at least I did my half to try and beat my normal luck

I wish it would do that at idle! You need some RPM first, like around 2500-3000 and a small turbo like the stocker on the 04.5 and up. LOL

Don, I had my visa card ready if your camshaft made boost at idle. It sure would fix my smoke trails. You must be running a faster ramp rate than the stock cam to create that much valve spring heat and binding. I can see that helping the engine to breathe more, I'm supprised that cummins hasn't done something similar but its more than likely for emmission.

Howdy Chris (and all the rest)!

That would be me, most likely, as I posted results like this a couple of times. With the stock charger on this truck plus the cam, and free rev'ing the engine in neutral, I could put ~17 psi on the boost gauge. With the twins, I can put 5 to 7 psi on the gauge.

And as my 4 year old would say, "it's just flat silly!"

That's who I thought it was

BTW, you're old clutch made it 95K miles before an overhaul...and it had about 20K more to go, before I messed up the hubs
