PDR 40 and the Oil Return Line

Hey guys went to install my PDR 40 last night does the oil line fit it? I had to tweak mine a bit to make the oil return line fit it. I bent the return line about 1/4" to make it clear the wastegate bracket(the gold part) is this common with the 40's Just wanted to make sure Im doing everything properly. Also with the down pipe what is the best way to fit it? Install the turbo then work on the downpipe? Do you have to trim the downpipe?

Jamie, what Keith means by clocking the turbo, loosen the 6 bolts going into the ex.housing a half turn each, then you can turn the cartridge[middle] to line up the oil return flange. Dont forget to tighten the bolts back up ! If the compressor outlet does not line up[ mine did not] squeeze the big snap ring a little and turn the compressor housing till it lines up. Hope this helps pm me if you need more info. Tim

Re:PDR 40 and the Oil Return Line

Clocking the turbo is very important when installing the HX40 turbo.
One thing I would do is take your old turbo and stick it on the work surface you are using (table, kitchen counter, whatever) then sit the 40 next to it, match the Compressor and Exhaust housings being careful to line up the oil inlet and outlet.
Its basically orientating everything on the old to the new turbo.
13mm gets the little turbine housing bolts, the Compressor housing can be adjusted or pinched with a LARGE pair of channel locks and adjusted very easily.

Also, I have ran into situations where you might need to remove your oil filter and re-orientate your block turbo drain inlet tube to mate better with the drain tube and hose.
You can move the block inlet tube by tapping it with a rubber mallet or sticking an implement inside of it and pulling it in the direction in which you choose.

I had to clock mine about 8 Deg and then locked it down. Also I filled the oil port before installing the line then I spun the turbo by hand and checked it once more then I put the line on. OverFueled

I wasn't aware that the turbo could turn that changes everything! Does the oil return and feeder have to be level? Also what is the best way to fit the down pipe attach the turbo first then fit the downpipe to it and the rest of the exhaust? THanks for the info guys makes life a little easier knowing that!

Fit the downpipe to the turbo .... loose enough to move it ... line it up with your exhaust run ...

Re:PDR 40 and the Oil Return Line

Disconnect your exhaust hangers ... slide the exhaust back ... put the downpipe on the turbo ... slide you exhaust on and measure the amount that needs to be trimmed. Remove the downpipe and cut off what you measured.......

I cant wait to see how this thing works Jamie. The 40 and the 2's should prove a deadly combo for anyone that wants to play with you on the street or track. All along giving less smoke

Don~
