Interesting read fellas, I too have the idea of a p-pumped 24v.....for the "little" project in my sig. Once all the engineering for the REST of the truck is complete, I don't believe this little conversion will be out of line! I gleened lots of little tidbits from all you guys though.....thanks for the thread trav and without us "weirdos", normal people wouldn't be considered "normal"

Thumbs up

well here i am again with nothing but praise for the almighty p7100 , i have been making alot of extra money replacing vp's on other people's trucks i've got fairly fast at it too ...my personal best is 1 hour 5 mins from the time the truck is "pulled" in , to the time i fire it up. HAHAHA!!

well lets see here ... 60000 on conversion now, had to replace the intercooler a while back , found that all to comon leak on the lower passenger side , replaced with a stock one (cause im a cheap, poor firefighter ).
learned that i have to keep that STUPID pump on a leash or it will cave in my filter and cause a "air polution level red day " that is a GOOD thing !!
took a day and did some "prettying up" on my twins

i have got a few e-mails of late reguarding this subject , and have found this is still a near mythical issue... ... oh well im here with info if its needed

later all ,TRAVIS

well the only numbers i have are PRE stupid-pump and no nitrous--

352 rwhp/ 832 tq

hope to make another dyno trip soon ...im guessing easily at least 100-125 more on top of those numbers ...and thats with the pump on a tight leash....clutch needs to be bigger before i can take it off the leash

Good information. I'm going the cheap P-pump conversion too. I've talked with several different performance diesel shops and it seems like nobody is worried about the difference in popoff pressures between the P7100 pump and the 24V injectors. I have an '01 24V that's getting a 12V cam, block O-ring, fresh bearings, rings and gaskets then going into an F250. Initially I'm planning on just getting the truck running so big HP numbers aren't a major concern right off the bat. I'm sure it won't take long for some pump modifications, injectors and a set of twins. Wish me luck!

There is more to getting a p-pumped injector to work correctly than adjusting pop pressures..... In fact some guys are having to lower them way below what even a stock 12v injector is just to get them to run the way they think they should. You can just stick some injectors in and run with it but to really get it to "run to its full potential" one needs injectors made for the setup.

What else is being modified, who does this and how much do they charge?

Who are "some guys" and what do they think they it should run like?

I'll be satisfied with something that gets at least the same mileage (14-17mpg) as my Powerstroke and has more lowend torque and somewhere around the same horsepower. My powerstroke made 278RWHP and over 600 pounds of torque with just a 60hp chip.

I have a set of special injectors on order right now. If all you are looking for is 278/600 + any injector would work. The RV275's with a single(DZ/14) did 375/900. I have been getting 17-19 in town and 20-22 hwy with all injectors and turbos tried. About 15-16 towing 8k. If you want the same hp and torque numbers with a p-pump conversion as your power stroke with a 60hp chip, try crimping one or 2 of your injector lines closed. That should bring it down to that level. The only problem I had with the conversion was getting it to idle on all 6 when it was warm. Dropping the popoff pressure was the only thing that worked. I tried several different pumps and 4 sets of injectors. None of the shops thought it would make any difference on mine either. But it did.

Another reason I'm limiting power is so I won't have to buy another clutch. I'm reusing the LuK that was behind my Powerstroke. Do you mind sharing what combinations you've tried? Injectors, turbos, fuel plates, etc. ? Who did you buy your conversion lines from? What did you modify to bolt the P7100 front plate to the 24V? Did you raise your intake to clear the pump? Got any pics of the install?

I got the lines from PDR, but I think he got them from Scheid. Spacing depends on the lines. The first set of lines cleared, the second did not. Just added 2 extra gaskets. I did not install the front cover, I bought the motor with the pump already installed. If there are specific things you would like pictures of I would be glad to email them to you. Just let me know. Engine compartment is a mess right now but it's clean. Gotta quit playing with turbos and start tidying up all the wires and hoses and filters.Looks like my garage under the hood(not a good thing).

Haisley, Scheid's and several other people offer the lines. Haisley quoted me $420 for a set and Scheid quoted me $450 yesterday. The cheapest I've been quoted was $360. What size lines did you end up with? Also, why did you have to install a second set of lines?
What plate, advance, injectors, turbo setup have you tried?
