i used the linkage assy off the vp with the tps on the back of it , bolted it to the side of the 7100 , made my own rod to connect to the 7100

well timing is around 16 it seems best for my driving style , i have been tuning with t-plate a bit getting things right . i had a 18 cm housing on my hx35 when it was vp'd ...i think im gonna try try the 12cm W/G housing again ( till i can find a 40 or a B1 ) to get some more reponse . MPG is down abit 16 to 14.5 ( this could be from my terminal obssesion with smoke and speed though ) . NO other problems as of yet have come up

Travis:

Sounds like you got everything all worked out on the timing!
I sent you a P.M. back after receiving yours yesterday. I knew
Doug Smith (Jetpilot) would help you out contrary to what
Merrick said!

Anyway, good luck with the new pump!! BTW, the Piers HX-40
will really wake that truck up!!

Take care Travis!

I'm curious about your fuel pump situation. You said you have 3 different pumps spitting out 45psi at idle and 25 at WOT? Why do the P-pumps need that kind of pressure?

Hey John,
I guess you were right,, although,, I see he didn't say his exact timing, although he seems willing to if you drop him a PM, but I am not qualified to say, because I have not talked to Doug, outside of a quick "Hello".

Good luck on the truck Travis. Hopefully you can get the mileage up on it.

to the pump question ... the manual lp on the 12v produces about 20-25 at idle ,and around 35 at wot , fuel flow through the 7100 also provides cooling , so the more fuel flow the better ( to a point ) , a absolute min pressure of 15 psi must be maintained , that is why i have 45 psi at idle ... to mimic the manual lp , and so i dont get close to that min pressure( the 7100 wont blow up at that pressure like the vp will ) i would love to try a FASS system on my truck , i think it would work great , guys have told me that it flows great with little pressure drop ...that would be nice . i have one more step to take on my truck though....bigger fuel line ,im still using a heinz 57 mix of factory -5/16-3/8 fuel lines ...ya , i know not the smartest thing...those carters are made for 1/2 inch line , it would help alot if i went 1/2 tank to pump

What do you do with the VP44 data connection? Just let it hang and don't look at the check engine light?

UPDATE

10000 miles now my p-pump conv. no big probs to speak of , had to get new #6 line from schied (Leaking) , dash is perfect ( no CE light ) ,cruise is good , fuel mileage is back into the 16's ( not sure how that happen....but i'll take it ) , i just got back from Port Aransas( 484 miles ) hauling 22000 lbs of jeep ,and 02 dodge ctd 4x4 , on 42 goose neck... PULLED GREAT ! i was happy, i got 10 -11 mpg both ways. We took the 02 to Prince Bros diesel's to get o-ringed , and took the jeep to get girls on beach ....both deals went REAL good .

Finally , no matter how hard i stomp on it ....THE INJECTION PUMP DOESN"T BLOW UP !!!!!!! YYYYYAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

travjrath, and gunracer1,

Looks like I have to take all the "bad" things I said about yall back, and I owe yall an apology for saying it can't be done, and wouldn't work.

Yall did good,, although,, you need to work on the MPG part,, Maybe some more timing and smaller injectors (or smaller DV's).
