NV 4500 Input shaft upgrade
Guys,
plain and simple question. When should i start to consider and input shaft upgrade? Im about to tear into my tranny on wednesday and was wondering just how much more than my current mods can i go before my input shaft risks breaking or damage?
Will the stocker hold 500 rwhp? or once i start adding more mods would it be wise to consider an input shaft..
What do you all think?
thanks for the input!

i broke mine pulling my trailer. it was light at the time but still broke it bad...made a hell of a raket just moving the truck.
i d save for a 5600 now.......and start looking for a deal.
btw i have my broken 4500 still for parts if your interested...i think it worth around 400 maybe...to bad it weight 300.....lbs.

If you tow, I'd do it. If you drive hard, I'd do it. If you do both at once...DO IT!!
It's a lot of money, but I've only heard of a handful breaking...and most of those were plain abuse!

i don't think you have a good enough clutch to break the input shaft. i have a con fe in mine when it broke. plus mine was a dually so more traction to try to break it with.

i have 2 friends who have both snapped theirs with pretty much the same mods as you have, but they were also being stupid and doing burnouts when it happened

I dont care much for burnouts,
just a couple more dyno pulls with it I wanna see how close to 400 rwhp I am now (if not over it) and just be able to smoke a ricer here and there...
Hohn,
we texans stick together, plus i know Valair clutches kick some serious keyster....
