pdrhx40 or ksb1?

To my current set-up, I am looking to add a set of injectors (DD2or3's or F1 stage 2 or 3's) to my current setup as well as a tranny, RAD, and FASS. Which turbo should I go with? I want quick spool-up and good boost. It is a daily driver that is raced around a little (empty) and I tow about 8000lbs in the mountains (around 4000 to 5000 feet) about once a month. Usually I am at sea level though.
How much horsepower should I expect from this set-up?

For the price.
Go with a used set of DD3's they run about 400 bucks.
Also for towing and dynoing the HX40 from Piers has the B1 beat in my opinion.

425hp...
Are you auto or clutch?

Justin, some day you and I might actually agree on something.

My recommendation would be a set of Mach 2's (smoother idle, little more power, and less smoke that DD3s) and a KSB1-2. If you don't mind a bit more lag, move to the KSB1-1 to keep things really cooled off.

What is the difference between the KSB1-1 and the KSB1-2? Specifically why does the former run cooler?
How much more lag?

Thanks

The KSB1-1 runs a very slightly larger compressor wheel (approx 1mm) but isn't quite as tight on the turbine side, so we'll usually see another 100F of cooling out of the charger. As for spool-up, with the Mach 2s, I'd expect to see the charger coming on a couple hundred RPM later than the KSB1-2 (which will spool about the same as an HX35). On a stick equipped truck, the differential will hardly be noticeable if a slightly more aggressive right foot is used. With a tight auto, that couple hundred RPM can be a little frustrating for _some_ folks who want their trucks to be as crisp as they were with the HY35.

It's an auto and I hate turbo lag so I guess the KSB1-2 is in order.
So I can expect the same spool-up as the HY35?
What kind of useable boost will I have? I don't want to put the head gasket in danger and right now I usually run around 30-35lbs of boost on the stock charger with the turbomaster.
So Mach 2's would actually make more power than the DD3's? What if I went to a Mach 3?
Could I still keep EGT's in check towing?
I'm not too worried about smoke at all and I don't want to have to upgrade injectors later.
Would I have more power running the Comp on 1x5 with this set-up or would it be a lot like it is now?
What kind of max HP should I expect with this?

Sorry for all the questions but I only want to do this once.

Any of the B- series is available as a direct bolt-in for the 04.5, including the proper turbine side and forward facing compressor outlet. The only thing we don't have right now is a fooler for that electronic waste. As soon as you unhook it, you throw a code.

As for the 550, a full B1 will put you close on the dyno (548) , but not at any sort of reasonable EGT level. A few guys played with HX55s, and were able to duplicate the numbers that we got with the B1, but again the EGTs were right out of control. So its twin work at this horsepower level.

Ok, so on the ksb1-2-ex4, what is the max boost to expect out of it? I don't want the head gasket in danger, will I need a blow-off valve or something?

I've heard you can run Mach 2's with just an HX35. So you could save yourself some money by buying your injectors first, then see where your egt's fall before you pony up for the turbo. Just a suggestion.

With the Comp on 5x5 and the Mach 2's, I would expect to see around 45-48 PSI of boost.
