I tad slow to spool, with my setup. However when it lights its pretty strong and will hold the EGT's to no more than 1100 while towing. No problems to report.

It will be real slow spooling especially towing. But you may get good mileage with it running empty.

5.9Shaker:

I ran an HX-40/16 on both my 1996 Dodge CTD 12 valve and also my now sold 2002 Dodge CTD 24 valve. IMHO,....I think the HX-40's did a great job both with performance and towing. I see you have a 2001. On my 2002, I had it set-up with a TST PM 3 "stacked" with an Edge EZ along with 100 H.P. injectors and a fully built ATS tranny.

Although the HX-40 was a little slower to spool than the stock HY-35/9, I would not say there was a huge difference. I towed my 1996 on a 24' Kaufman Flat Bed Trailer and never had any troubles towing it with a weight of over 10,000 lbs. I had tried an 18cm housing and it was WAY too laggy, but the 16cm housing worked very well.

I hope this helps you some.

Wow, John P, I have to disagree with that!!
My hy35/9 was fast to spool! Then the PDRhx40/16w went on and it was slooow to spin up, but fun once it did!

spool will vary dramatically depending on how much fuel you throw at it. big sticks and a box turned up will be smoky, but ought to spool faster!

Thumbs up Turbo

My HX 40/16 with my 370 injectors work great together!

I'm just revieving this thread and notice something.

The Hx40 works much better on the 12 valve motors.
This proves---to me---that the 12 valve is superior!
Wish I still had mine.

On a auto they are slow. To much fuel and it can't catch up with exhaust temps while towing. Just my experience with one.
