How much power on a suncoast flexplate?

How much power are you guys running on suncoast flexplate's? Are garmon and all them running the laminated suncoast flexplate? I just put one in my truck to go along with the billet input, and it sure doesent look very impressive compared to the billet ATS flexplate my cousin has in his. It may hold a lot of power, I am just curious what kind of power is being put through them. Thanks

Eric

the ats flexplate is solid billet plate how is the very hard and very solid piece of billet steel going to flex?? Its not. Instead of flexing like a flex plate is designed to do it will transfer that stress to other driveline parts. The suncoast plate being laminated takes the stress off the bolt holes and is very strong but still flexes

I've heard that as well. Flex plates are designed to have a small amount of flex in them, hence their names. Now, can anyone prove that the ATS flex plate is bad? Probably not. But in theory it is.

Gee that's funny, I have NEVER heard of what you are saying about the ATS Billet Flexpates, Rpainter. I have the ATS Billet Flexplates in both my 1996 Dodge CTD and also my 2006 Doge CTD CR and have had zero (0) probelms with them!

In fact, the ATS Billet Flexplate in my 2006 was ALSO in my now sold 2002 for over two (2) years with no problems there either. You can look at my signatures to see where I am in H.P./TQ. and drag race times to see I am running my trucks hard.

I am not saying the Suncoast Flexplate is not good, as I know that their products are top notch and alot of the Pro-Street Drag Trucks like Garmon, Stuckey, Morrison to name a few run their products with great success.

I am saying unless you have a full billet trans to accept the extra strain of the flex plate not flexing you are going to break a intermediate shaft. Imo the thick flexplates are too strong for what the flexplate is designed to do:FLEX

The plate can be tempered, as in spring steel, and still be conformant - flexible - your trucks would ride fairly hard if that were not true, eh?
