How much air...

Do i need for a 160 pump, with piers delivery valves, diesel dynamic stage 3 injectors , and a 10 plate?

Would i even need the delivery valves with the stage 3 injectors? (i know 370's and a 160 pump make for a stumble)

Would an HTBG be enough? or should i step up to an HTB2? What are my other (cost effective) options?

My eventual goal is 425-450 hp.

A KSB1 would be another excellent turbo to consider in that power range. FWIW, big DV's typically eliminate any stumbling issues with the 160 pump and 370's.....I never had a stumbling issue with my 94 but I never ran 370's with the stock 131 DV's, either. Also, I would skip the #10 and go for the #100 if 450 hp is your goal with the 160 pump.

Thanks , i looked on piers site , there is alot of choices for turbos , if i spent that much money , wouldn't i be further ahead to go with a b-1 with the hx 35 outlet (saves the cost of an exhaust to go with the new down pipe)

I forgot to mention the 3k gsk in my conglomeration there... I am going to go with the 10 plate for now , and if i want a 100, i'll just grind some more off of it.

One other thing i am looking into is the elusive 230 pump (i'd settle for a 215) i have seen 4 of them on school bus' at work , i just have not located one for sale.I know where there is a 215 pump , but dad wants to keep his pump

The full B1 is another excellent option to the KSB1 but I would skip the HX35 outlet.....you really should consider the 4" outlet at that power level with that turbo. You should be running 4" exhaust at that power level regardless. If you know you are going the B1 route, you can get 4" exhaust kits without the down pipe from several exhaust suppliers and skip having to buy the down pipe twice. If you know you are aiming for the 450 hp range, do it once and do it right. Pay now or just pay more later as the saying goes.

I took another look on piers site , and I think with a 4" exh (i'll stop trying to be cheap now) the ksb-1 would be my best option , but 2000 bucks is alot of cash to shell out , i don't even make that much in a month, before i make my truck payment and pay my rent and other bills that is. I am kinda leaning towards the HTBG right now , and i can upgrade it later if i want/need to, and it is easier on the wallet to start off with. Does this sound like a good plan? i am shooting for 350 or so hp to start off with , anything over that is a bonus , the 450 is my eventual goal , when i can afford it.

The ksb-1 is a bad little turbo. I'm running one now and I can't say enough good things about it. It spools almost as fast as my stock hy35. Even with a comp on 5x5 (wire tapped) and 100+hp injectors the highest EGT I can hit is 1300* on a sustained run. I've also got a scotty 2 with the hole and 5" stacks. The only downside with a ksb-1 it's none wastegated and you will need a waste gate. With a comp and 275 injectors I could hit 50psi vrey easily. Also, when paired with a b-2, it makes a killer 600+hp twins combo. I strongly recommend a ksb-1. If you were closer I'd let you take it out for a spin.

I ran 370's, 181DV's, 100plate with a HX40/16 and it would not keep top end temps below 1500*. I'd suggest a HTB2 at least but it really depends on how you want to use the truck. If you never want to have EGT's go over 1400* you'll end up with a large laggy turbo, but a smaller turbo will give you good driveability and EGT control. Heck My HX35/14 keeps up fine with the mods in my sig for daily driving, and hotrodding around. It'll still peg out the pyro but I like the drivability it offers.

Is there a wastegated version of it available? What about adding an external wastegate?

I'd come down and take it for a drive if i could meet your sister while i was there
Seriously though , thanks for the offer

Yep...wastegated B1's run $200 higher than Non-W/g versions!

FWIW...DO NOT go with a Full B1 if you do any towing whatsoever!!!! I tried it with about the same fuel you are going for...doesn't work! Period!! Too much surging! BUT, if I kept RPM about about 1900 (when the turbo lit anyway) she'd run like no other

I second the KSB1...that's what I should've bought!! Should run around 8-9psi cruising on the highway, and really good temp control at WOT! Remember though, these 12v don't breathe like the 24v's!! At 360hp my full B1 @ 38psi would still let temps get to 1500*...Which was better than pegged like the stocker I think better spoolup would have helped a bit, but I also recommend the W/G!!

BTW, the new (DD40/B2) twins keep the same setup limited to 1295* @ 59psi and 115mph, according to the X-monitor

I love twins!
Chris

I may have to call piers , because that is where i am planning to buy from ( to avoid exchange , and duty at the border, although i think i have figured a way to avoid that) and see what the cost on a wastegated ksb-1 is.

Ill be installing an II Phat Shaft 62 here in the near future, ill let you know how it goes. There 62 is supposed to have the fast spoolup but flow alot more air top end. Ill keep the 62 for driving around town, and when sled pulling, ill throw the 66mm wheel and housing on. PM me for more details,
Luke
BTW Chris you have a PM
