??? Going to drain tranny fluid. I've been told it's better to add more fluid than what spec calls for which is 3.5 quarts. How much more fluid should I add? Also does anybody run Lucas in thier Manual Transmission? I heard it was really good stuff.

 

Fill to the bottom of the check plug

 

I have read somewhere that if you overfill the manual trans <br>It helps lube one of the bearings which by design does starve<br>a little for lubrication.<br>I think that it gets overfilled by 1 pint<br>Don't quote me on that though

 

Same here I've heard one pint and also 1 to 2 quarts. Maybe somebody knows the right amount to add.

 

I run Lucas -added 2 bottles and 2 extra of special oil for the 5600. 130k-95% pulling 3 Horse trailer coast to coast- no problems. Put it in from the shifter cover, inside cab. Much easier than laying on your back.

 

Not sure what configuration a '93 manual trans has but on the NV4500 the specs say 4 quarts, and trying to add more would spill right out the fill plug. I would say fill to just under the plug.

 

On the Gertag (5 speed) manual transmission, fill or rather overfill by one quart. There is one bearing that is starved for oil. Most put that last quart in from the top, remove the shifter boot for access.<br>John<br>

 

I was always taught to fill level with the plug anything else reduces the cooling effect and can create a sludge problem.
