How do I spend my money???

Alright, I have a 2002 2500 4x4 Automatic (now I know the worst possible scenario) and have some money to spend on her. She is stock with the exception of an Edge EZ, gauges and straight pipe exhaust.

My question to you guys is given a budget of $3500, where will I get the most bang for the buck? I know the turbo needs to go, but for what? I am looking at a mostly daily driver with some occasional heavy towing and really just want a hot rod.

I also want to make mods that will allow for future upgrades without wasting money now.

And before anyone starts, I already have the tranny replacement plans in place. So don't worry about that!

Welcome to the DTR!

The 02, 4x4, Auto is a GREAT truck. Other than the Tranny costing more than a new clutch on a shifter, it's the best set up to have! Just my opinion.

Assuming the Tranny upgrade is not coming out of the $3500.00 (which would take most/all), I would consider...
- HTB2, 12 cm turbo from HTT. - $1,200.00
- Mach 4's Injectors from F-1 - $900.00
- Mad ECM with timing - $564.00
- Upgrade fuel system - FASS II $400.00
- 4" exhaust - $400.00
That's $3,464. Sell you EZ for $300-400 = $3,100.00+/-

Add a Scotty II air Intake and possibly a DSS (Darrins Steering Stabilizer) and your right around $3500.00...with a very nice 400-450 hp truck that will pass 98% of the vehicles on the road!

Leaves room, down the road, to add a fueling box...with up to additional 120hp
Turbo is upgradable through HTT for nominal charge as needs arise.

This is fun; playing with OPM...(other peoples money).

One WiLd NiGhT at the Nudie Bar should be about $3500.00
and you'll forget about that old truck .............. for a while anyway.

I'm game if you are.

You give it to me. First off your tranny isn't gonna handle anymore than a set of 275/300 injectors (about 40hp) with the EZ also. Get a scotty 2 and a 4" exhaust and that will help the EGT's. I'm seeing no more than 1200* pre turbo with the comp in EZ mode and 275's and that's only at a 110mph. After that your gonna need to upgrade the tranny and that can range from $500-6000 depending on how wild you want to get and who you go with.

I thought the man said he had the tranny in the works? Did I misunderstand?

One other thing...think you will need a boost fooler if/when you give up your EZ. Don't know where to get those ...or the cost....but not real expensive.

Edit - remove my post, my reading comprehension is improving, somewhat, lol.

Missed the part about having transmission upgrades in place. So my advice is
worth exactly what was paid for it.

TST powermax3 (add it to your EZ) $549
Don M injectors, Mach 4 $900
Phat shaft 62 turbo, Industrial Inj. $1200
ARP studs from Don M $430
Rip Rook 4" Exhaust $300
----------------------------------------------------------
Total $3379

This will give 500+ hp that you can still tow with (box off). For the boost levels that the PS turbo can generate, you need head studs to keep the headgasket in place.

If you can scrape another $550 or so, get water/methanol injection and take the extra HP and cooler EGTs.
