Heavy Towing w/ '99 DRW - Programmers?

Hi guy. My interlock/landscaping season is starting up shortly & i'm interested in beefing up the truck with a some more pulling power.

Truck is usually pulling a dump trailer, 3400lbs empty & rated for 9 tons

I'm looking for LOTS & LOTS of tq, could care less about the HP that comes with it. TQ & mileage are my primary targets.

My lift pump dies so i put on my Holley Black i had from the old setup in the car...replaced all the fuel feed lines with 3/8" line as well. I think it has the 3.41 gears or whatever

What should i do to make this thing act like its not even struggling Also, what modifications if any are necessary for the tranny as far as helping it last long....ex shift kit, upping the line pressure, etc

Your Tranny is the weak link If you got good pressure you can add a valve body to help hold any new found power ,Get gauges before you start adding boxs, Check my sig. my set up dynos right at 300 hp. Its night and day from stock, very good towing power and not a lot of strain on the drivetrain

I agree with the van aken and 275's but I also suggest adding a new valve body to your tranny at the same time. The VA/275's will be on the ragged edge for what your tranny can handle. Put the valve body in there and you'll never have to worry about the tranny slipping with the VA/275.

Good recommendations above.
Definately the valve body.
Maybe a Smarty, instead of the Van Akken Box, and 275 injectors. The VA box is bound to be fairly smokey with a heavy trailer. Smarty is more expensive but better suited to your application, if budget allows?
Info on Smarty here.... http://www.madselectronics.com/index.html

you need to upgrade the tranny first then gauges! then if you want power and mpgs get a catcher and mach 1.6 injectors, it will make your truck pull the planet sideways

get the tranny to hold and use the power you already got and leave the rest alone. That is the only way to do it cheap. More fuel means more heat means more heat which means bigger turbo, all that means better tranny which= $$$

If you're looking for a cheap, easy upgrade...check out the Superchips or Hypertech programmers. I got a Superchips programmer on ebay for $200 USD. It adds a noticeable amount of power (high setting is ~60-70hp and ~140 - 180 ft/lbs as claimed by Superchips). I have been quite happy with mine, and I'm not worried about damaging my trans.

Superchips is considered a "mild" mod. I haven't been able to find (despite a lot of internet searching) where a customer (3rd party) has actually dyno tested one to confirm or disprove the power increases claimed by Superchips, but I do know that my "seat of the pants" dyno notices the difference.
