06 DRW - How do I get rear rotors off? DRW Wheels are siezed?

This 06 came from Minnesota, 88k now. This is my first 1 ton DRW.

All the rotors are literally rusting flaking apart....

I got all 4 new wagner rotors and pads ($700) ouch.

The DRW rears rims are stuck, I can't even get the DRW wheels off, how the heck does a person get them off, I sprayed lots of PB and big hammer on the tires, no luck! Help!

I need to know how do I get the rear rotors off also.

Thanks,
John

Smack em and smack em again. If the outers are stuck put a flat wedge bar between them and smack the bar towards the center of the hub. If the inner is stuck smack the tire towards the axle. As for the rotor someone else will have to speak up because I haven't had to change them yet.

Ok, works for a friend of mine every time. secure the front tires, jack up the rear, loosen all the lug nuts. start the truck and put it in gear. at around 5mph slam the breaks. it should pop them right apart.

use a sledge hit them towards the axle on opposite sides of the tire. it will work. to get the rotors off you have remove the calipers and its holder and then unbolt the axle shaft and pull it out and the rotors will come off. should take about an hour or so

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Loosen the lug nuts 1/2 turn loose and drive carefully at slow speed and make turns. Should pop loose after few turns.

Thanks, appreciate the info. I ended up getting all the wheels off ok, what a PIA. All 6 of them literally rusted to the flanges. PB spray seemed to help, but yeah, SMACK SMACK SMACK, turn wheel SMACK SMACK on the inside of the tire with a big sledge hammer, so the hits would push outward. Took 3 hrs to get them off, talk about sore this morning. Definately putting antisieze back on the flanges when remounting the wheels.

Another 3 hours just to replace the front pads/rotors. I hate rust! lol
I put lots of antisieze on the front wheel spacer, nutz, brack caliper bolts etc. Northern US is sure hard on this stuff.... this sure isn't like my 94 !

I notice the 06 had dual caliper pistons on the front compared to the 94, and bigger pads, rotors on the rear is great, though I don't understand why the engineers designed the rear like that. Starting to like my 94 drums.

I haven't got the rear rotors off yet, that looks like all day job, can't believe you have to pull the axle to get the rotors off ugh

I've never had an axle shaft off in the rear, first do I remove the 4 nuts on the back of the axle housing flange? or does that axle cap with 6+ screw come off?

Appreciate any help anyone has with the removing axle bit to get to the rotor.... Thanks

Thanks Rich, will I have to buy a new seal if I pull the rear axle?

I decided to try to do the rear's maybe later in the week.

Oh too, How the heck do you get the front spacer removed from the rear rotor, another big hammer?
