siezed LP, would not start after coming to a stop

siezed LP, would not start after coming to a stop

My truck's saga has me keen about VP44 and the Achilles heel lift pump - I've replaced one VP44 for a slow dying lift pump, and have had to replace the lift pump once thereafter. The current VP44 has about 15000 miles on it (truck has 88000 total). When the VP44 was replaced, I had a fuel pressure warning indicator (lite on dash) installed - that indicator was helpful with indicating a slow dying lift pump that was promptly replaced.
Last Friday, while coming to a stop sign, my truck just died - no fuel pressure warning, no check engine code - just dead. So in having my truck towed to a diesel mechanic, sure enough the lift pump had siezed up - this time, no slow dying lift pump just shot. That said, we've agreed to install a FAAS instead of the in the tank lift pump - about the same price?
I'm hoping the VP44 is still OK - it will be a wait and see what happens when the FAAS is installed. I guess I'm wondering and would like to ask the group here if a siezed up lift pump could so quickly burn out a VP44 - I would have expected the fuel pressure indicator to forewarn me? I only drove the truck about two miles the day she died? Thanks, DD

If it truly seized, may have just blocked all fuel flow and killed engine. VP-44 probably ok.
Where is warning light hooked up.

Thanks for the reply - the warning lite's sensor is connected to a fuel port off the VP44? Does that help, if not I can ask to get more specifics? DD

That's fine.... never worked with one.
So light should have come on. Is it nornally on when you turn key on, before starting?

My lift pump went and it didn't hurt the VP44. Mine went the same way.

Thanks for the replies. Rowj, to answer your question - yes, the check fuel presure warning indicator is brightly lit before starting the engine. The last time I had a slow dying LP, this indicator would dimly light and variably become brighter with more throttle. DD
