Pretty sweet!

If I recall talking to Fleece thats about 10% authority of the vanes with the **** correct?

I was looking at the HE351VE comp housing last night and noticed it doesn't have a surge relief built in, unlike the HE351CW that uses the same wheel.. It must not be needed on a VNT turbo.

Where can I get the adapter plate?

I have the turbo and a stainless exhaust manifold I was going to put on, but the shop I took it to to have them make mounting plate and weld it to the manifold never got done ( he just kept my stuff for six months and kept telling me next week, and I have the parts made etc. What a liar) so I got the stuff back and I just want to use an adapter and get it done........

I'll order the fleece controller as soon as I have the adapter.

Also, where do you get the parts to hook it up to the inter-cooler?

www.glacierdieselpower.com It's not a production turbo yet.

Be careful when you have the VGT closed down tight.

VGT is capable of producing really quick acceleration of the shaft. This is generally a good thing-- we all want the fastest response possible.

But this also is pretty tough on the turbine shaft and wheels-- you have to be very careful that you don't get into a resonance condition (even momentarily) and create a huge acceleration of the of the fatigue. High cycle fatigue can become low cycle fatigue in a hurry.

When you put larger wheels on the same bearing housing, you get a double whammy. Your larger turbine wheel now has a larger lever arm with which to accelerate the shaft (mitigated somewhat by the extra inertia which take more work to speed up).

Also, the heavier compressor wheel (and the larger diameter) not only adds mass, but makes the rotational inertia higher as well.

What does all this mean?

The shaft is going to see a lot higher peak torque loading with larger wheels-- primarily when the VGT is clamped down.

The reason you'd care about this is that the relationship of loading to fatigue life can be VERY disproportionate, depending on where you are on the S-N curve.

So a 10% or 15% increase in loading may cause a 75% reduction in fatigue life. Or it may not.

I'm not saying failure is inevitable. I AM saying that the larger, heavier wheels are directionally a move away from reliability. The extra performance may never translate into a reliability penalty you see.

I hope it works out for you, as a Hi-performance VGT option would be a great option to have for a BOMBer.

If you do find yourself with the turbine wheel in the downpipe, you'll at least know why

Do you think its possible to machine these turbo's out to put a larger shaft in them? These things are so much bigger then the hx series, that they might have enough room.......

I'm still looking for an adapter?

How did you hold the gasket between the two flanges without the bolts to keep in aligned?
