Guages - why all 3?

I understand the fuel pressure guage, but why the EGT and Boost? I won't be doing a lot of heavy long haul towing, so would the EGT be necissary? Boost...no idea why i would need a guage for that (not informed).
Thanks!

EGT is mandatory, they can get hotter than you think even unloaded.Boost is good to have to see if you have a bad IC boot or clogged air filter. The 2 work hand in hand. They can tell you a lot about the state of your engine.I wouldn't go without any of them.

The Pyro and Boost are necessary if you change that "stock (for now)" in your signature. Since you said "for now", I'd guess that you're already thinking of mods so getting the gauges now will let you establish a nice baseline so that when (not if) you start modifying, you know what's changing. Since you have an automatic, a Trans. Temp is another good gauge to have if you do any towing.

Stick around and the bombing bug will get you sooner or later.

Boost isn't really necessary, as everything you'd want it for you can pretty much tell from the EGT.

However, if you are going to approach the limits of your turbo, you want boost so you know if you're about to grenade it or not.

pyro is the most important one...it will tell u the majority of info....boost is just a secondary peace of info to help u determine where the high egts are comign from so u better understand whats happening in the motor under load, high vs low rpm etc and then u'll know how to controol egts better....with pyro alone ur kinda guessing why ur egts might be high

If three are good, four are more better.

Yeah ... I agree too... But some of us don't have a auto trans... Nice setup Shovelhead!

Out here in the mountain I can be climb the forestry roads without trying I can get the pyro up to 1000-1100*F and without a load!

The other thing everyone forgot about is the pyro is important to let the turbo cool down properly. I try to get mine under 300*F before shutdown. I've seen a few times where I come back to the truck and seen the pyro climbing back up to 400*F again....

Boost gives you a good indication of how good the turbo is working including the wastegate and boots (leakage).

Fuel Pressure is a VERY important guage... Without good PSI your VP44 is toast! Kinda like mine right now... I wish I would have got the guages sooner!

I still like the white face Dipricol's...
