With a VP not much over 4K. P-pumps can hit 5-6k pulling when they come of the line.

really!, 5000+ that's awesome! I don't mean to hijack this thread but I got a request. I am sure that yal have your "secret" setup to get there but besides the p pump is there any other hardware that yal use to help get there? I may not be able to get the vp there but if yal could tell me some of the other hardware that is used besides springs then it might help me get to 4000-4500rpm alittle easier. If you want to keep yours a secret and not tell specifics then I would like to know the general stuff like cam or rods or what

Basically for 5k RPM you need a p-pump with a good fuel supply. Scheid diesel, columbus diesel, haisley machine, and several other sell a 5k RPM governor spring kit for not too much money. So you will need that in a P-Pump that has big Delivery Valves, a good plate, some rack travel mods, and a few other small things, along with some big injectors. Then you need a darn good valvetrain to handle the RPM, and also a good cam and a big turbo are needed if you want to try and make use of the higher rpm. Its really pretty simple though.

Honestly you wont need more than 4k RPM unless the truck is a hardcore 2.8 and up pulling truck. These motors make better power down around 2600-3600rpm In my opinion. But when you get into 3.0 turbo's or big twins, and a built motor, then the extra rpm's can be made use of.
