edge comp installation and other questions
edge comp installation and other questions
Ok just got my new Comp today and was looking at the main harness. I know where the map sensor and the data link are but I'm confused about the other two wires. Do these both go to the pump? One is black the other is grey. Also, I'm going to run this in EZ mode. So if I dont hook up the pump wire do I just have the first two settings? Or does it know that the other wires aren't hooked up and just go to the ez? Sorry if these questions are kind of dumb but I would like to know about it before installation.
Thanks Chris
Thanks Chris
Re:edge comp installation and other questions
The black wire with the circle connector on the end is your ground wire and the grey hooks up to your pump. If you want to run in ez mode do not connect the pump wire, just the ground. It dosent matter what level you put your box on if your running in the ez mode
Re:edge comp installation and other questions
Like moneyman said, just hook up the black wire and zip tie the grey wire somewhere safe. The levels on the Comp won't matter if you are in EZ mode (like I am). The only thing they will do is control when the power comes in. The higher the setting, the sooner the power comes in.
Re:edge comp installation and other questions
Thanks for the replys. Got it hooked up and who seems to have more power! It can spin the tires now(dually). Can I adjust the sublevels or can I only do that with the pump wire? It doesn't really smoke alot but it does smoke more than it usaully does. I left both the levels at what they were when I first stared it level 3 and 3 on the other sub level. I'm just mainly wondering what I can adjust without the pump wire. Thanks
Re:edge comp installation and other questions
Go through all the setting and set them up like this: Main level 1, Sub level 1; Main Level 2, Sub Level 2; Main Level 3, Sub Level 3; Main Level 4, Sub Level 4; Main Level 5, Sub Level 5. That way the main settings are the same as the sub setting and the power would come on at the same rate as if you had the other wire hooked up. Then go and put it on Main Level 5 and have fun. ;D
Re:edge comp installation and other questions
Why main level 5 when its doing nothing? Keep it on 3 where its using its resources and hook up the wire for stages 4 and 5 thats when stages 4 and 5 are used. Not to fulfil the fantasy of being there when your not ;D

I think what Big Blue is getting at here, Jamie, is since the power levels don't really do anything until the pump wire is hooked up, if you set 1x1, 2x2 and so on, you have very easy access to changing the sub-fueling levels. Instead of having to hold in the button to get it to the sub levels, you simply switch the power levels.
Good idea Blue ;D

I know the feeling trust me I was there!
I do however think that 5x5 is a heck of a program! I can't wait to get a drag version this winter when my truck is parked. Speaking of upgrades Rod can you reprogram my Edge box or does it have to go to edge?

I have mine set that way too! But I find myself on only 5x1 or 5x2 sometimes for smoke.
