Question clutch and fuel plate

I ground the curves about half way down on my stock fuel plate and slid it about 1/16th of an inch from full forward then strait piped it and am now getting lots of power and 30 psi of boost. But with 180,000 on the stock clutch I let my brother drive it and now the clutch smells if I ride it at all like when backing up to a trailer. I need a new one so with the plate where it is will a new, not rebuilt, Luk clutch kit hold together or do I need something different? Also, how can you tell if the governing arm is still striking the fuel plate? I would like to know so that I can see if it is fuctioning or not because I read here that if the arm misses the plate it ruins the injector pump so I need input since I am new to hopping up diesels thanks guys

First, if your talking about a new stock clutch, no, its not going to hold very long. If you plan on bombing, find a southbend clutch that meets your needs.

Second, to check your gov. arm. you must pull off the afc housing so your looking at your plate. Pull up your fuel shut off lever (shaft underneath big round solnoid right next to the afc housing, push it up into the solinod) look down into the pump, and move the throttle lever untill you see the arm come up and touch the plate. That should show you were it hits.

Thanks man. I don't want much more power but I do want a good clutch and I was wondering if a luk clutch will hold. I pull often so the clutch does get worked and thanks, I will check the governing arm but where can I find a southbend clutch?
